Episode 358: Kiss Me"Can I buy you a drink?" Adria joked, sliding onto the stool beside Ryley, the exact places they’d sat on New Year’s Eve. Hard to belief she felt okay about a place that she’d not so long ago considered the scene of the crime. A place where she’d betrayed her heart. Or so she’d believed at the time.
"That’s my line, remember?" Ryley barely cracked a smile. "The table’s going to be another ten minutes. We should’ve gone someplace else."
"I don’t mind waiting," she said in her cheeriest voice but he looked so grave. Butterflies, the bad kind whooshed through her body. They’d been inseparable the past three weeks, not in a romantic sense, though the more she learned about him, the baby of his family, his frustrations at the office, everything, the more she’d opened to the idea.
"I wish we hadn’t met like this," he said, heartbreak in his eyes.
Adria touched his face, hating that he still felt bad about taking her virginity, yet more than ever sure she could love him. "I’m so glad my first time was with you. I kissed a few frogs and accidentally found a prince."
"You won’t date a prince." Ryley gave her a pained look. "Sorry. I promised I could be just friends and I will. I’ll take whatever I can get. It’s just sometimes I can’t help but wonder maybe if we hadn’t met so cheap, if you’d take a chance and-"
"Kiss my prince?" And she did.
