Gretzky, ice truck arrive at Dodger Stadium on Monday

Wayne Gretzky started the hockey boom in California when he arrived there in 1988. So it's only natural that The Great One is on hand for the next big moment in California hockey.

Gretzky will be at Dodger Stadium on Monday to welcome the NHL's ice truck, which will arrive in Los Angeles to begin the process of turning the legendary baseball stadium into an outdoor hockey rink.

The Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks will play at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 25 in the opening game of the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series.

The 53-foot trailer contains all the equipment needed to create the rink for the first outdoor NHL regular-season game in California. The arrival Monday caps a journey of more than 2,200 miles from its start in Ann Arbor, Mich., where it helped create the rink for the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs at Michigan Stadium on New Year's Day.
