Flyers commemorate HHOF inductees with special jerseys

No. 88 is set to hit the ice for the Philadelphia Flyers once again.

Every player on the team will wear jerseys with the number 88 and special patches commemorating 2016 Hockey Hall of Fame inductees Eric Lindros and Pat Quinn during warmups for their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.

Lindros, the first-overall pick of the Quebec Nordiques in 1991, played 486 games for Philadelphia and recorded 659 points (290 goals, 369 assists) and a whopping 946 penalty minutes.

He only played in 13 seasons in the NHL after injuries put a stop to the power forward’s career. He also played for the Leafs, New York Rangers, and the Dallas Stars.

His induction into the Hall of Fame was announced this past June, in his sixth year of eligibility.

Quinn began his coaching career with the Flyers as an assistant coach before taking over head duties by the end of the 1978-79 regular season. In 262 games he led Philadelphia to a 141-73-48 record.

He went on to rack up 684 wins in 1400 games as a head coach, including a Stanley Cup appearance for the Vancouver Canucks in '93-94.

Quinn passed away on Nov. 23, 2014 at age 71.

The Flyers and the Maple Leafs will kick off Hall of Fame induction weekend on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
