Flyers announce roster for alumni game vs. Penguins

Hockey Hall of Fame members Bobby Clarke, Bill Barber, Mark Howe and Eric Lindros will be among the Philadelphia Flyers alumni skating against Pittsburgh Penguins alums at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Jan. 14, 2017.

The alumni game between the cross-state rivals is part of the 50th anniversary season for both teams.

"This game is a celebration of the past 50 years of Flyers hockey," said Brad Marsh, president of the Flyers Alumni Association. "To bring five decades' worth of players and fans together to share in the one thing we all have in common, fiercely representing the orange and black, that's not something that happens every day."

The Flyers will have players from all five decades of the franchise represented at the game. From the 1960s and 1970s will be forwards Clarke, Barber, Reggie Leach, Bob Kelly and Orest Kindrachuk, and defensemen Joe Watson and Jim Watson. All were part of the Flyers' 1974 and 1975 Stanley Cup championship teams.

Representing the 1980s will be forwards Tim Kerr, Dave Poulin, Brian Propp and Murray Craven, and defensemen Howe, Marsh and Kjell Samuelsson. From the 1990s will be Lindros, a member of the 2016 Hall of Fame Class, along with forward John Leclair, and defensemen Luke Richardson and Terry Carkner.

From the 2000s will be forwards Daniel Briere and Simon Gagne, defenseman Eric Desjardins and goaltender Brian Boucher.

Full rosters for both alumni teams will be released at a later date.

The Flyers and Penguins will play in the 2017 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh on Feb. 18, 2017.
