Episode 914: Fashion

“I know, I know,” Lila said. “I don’t expect you to buy anything here, I just thought it would be fun to check out the place and get some ideas for what you want. Though honestly, I don’t get turning down a no expense spared wedding. It’s like the person who saved my son’s life with that donation and they want to be anonymous instead of getting the glory they deserve. It’s craziness.”

“I just don’t want money to factor into my relationship with my dad, it hasn’t done Sebastian’s family any favors, that’s for sure.”

“I guess, but if you’d saved someone’s life wouldn’t you want to be thanked?”

“Some people are just really private,” Ava said. “Maybe knowing they did something good is thanks enough.”

“”It wouldn’t be thanks enough for me,” Lila said. “If I’d done something heroic, I’d want it celebrated. And if I had a dad, I wouldn’t hesitate to let him spoil me.” She shook her head and smirked a little. “”No matter how good I get at some point it always hits me that I’ll never quite qualify for sainthood, huh?

“I wouldn’t have you any other way, my friend,” Ava said. “There is never a dull moment with you and I’ve grown to kind of like it.”

“I try,” Lila replied with a smile and wrapped an arm around Ava’s shoulder only to drop it immediately and scurry over to a rack of white gowns, pulling one with a strapless bodice and big pouffy ball gown with the palest blue washed over the hem.

“This is totally you,” Lila said. “Clean and understated but with a pop of princess. Tell me you don’t want to ring up your dad and have him gift wrap this for you?”

It was a beautiful gown, Ava did kind of love it, but she vehemently shook her head. “I don’t even want to look at the price tag, I know it’s not in my price range, which is fine, it’s not like this is my first wedding, I don’t need such a fancy dress, I’m already married.”

“You’re already married?” a voice from behind said, prompting Ava to turn around.
