"Be with you in a sec," she said, going back to her computer word game.

Bowie rammed a hand through his hair. "Could you just get on with it please? You know, rip off the Band-Aid."

"I wouldn’t be in that big a hurry if I were you," she warned.

Bowie fell into the chair, sick inside.

"Okay, I won." Shanti flipped open a file and sipped from a strawberry milkshake.

"Could you be any more casual about this?" Bowie snapped at her. "This is my life we’re talking about here. This is," he choked, had to clear his throat. "This is two little boys’ lives."

She took one final slurp then gave a firm nod. "Sorry. It’s just better if I don’t get too personally attached. Some of the stuff I see… if I let all of it sink in; I’d never be able to get out of bed in the morning. Way too depressing."

"Like my case," Bowie said, with a grimace.

"I don’t know that unequivocally," she qualified. "There is no proof that it’s a sexual affair. She meets with this man on a regular basis; keep in mind though it may be perfectly innocent. His name is Curran Gable. Do you know him?"

"Yeah." But it wasn’t perfectly innocent.
