Big Apple Donnie Wahlberg Article 1

He's a Big Boy Now

If anyone can turn a former child star into a respected adult actor, it's David Milch, Emmy-winning producer of NYPD Blue.

Milch pumped life back into the career of former Silver Spoons star Rick "Don't Call Me Ricky" Schroder when he cast him as Blue's Danny Sorenson in 1998, a feat he'll likely repeat when Saved by the Bell's Mark-Paul Gosselaar joins the squad next season.

So, Donnie Wahlberg knows he's in good hands. Although the 31-year-old may still be best known as one-fifth of '80s teen pop phenomenon New Kids on the Block (and more recently as big brother of rapper turned movie star Mark Wahlberg), his new role on Milch's latest cop drama, CBS' Big Apple, costarring Ed O'Neill and Michael Madsen, should give him some fresh buzz.
